Programmable Cake Mold

Digital Gastronomy · Robotics · Fabrication

A collaboration with the Hybrid Lab, led by Amit Zoran. Continuing the lab's exploration of digital gastronomy, the project builds a programmable cake mold that gives the chef precise control over the diner's sensory experience.

Programmable cake mold

How it works

The mold is made of voxels manipulated by a robotic arm. The chef decides which flavors the diner should experience and how they blend; the arm pushes each voxel to its target position to compose the structure.

Final Output

The result is a layered, voxel-like structure with a distinct grid pattern, the cake as a programmable, edible matrix of flavor.
